We're looking for
Clemenger is an agency built on the different points of view, quirks and abilities of our people. And we’re looking for the next generation of unique characters to join our ranks.
What we want
We’re looking for exceptions to the rule.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been to university, what you’ve studied, or the path you’ve taken. Every person brings a unique skill set to the table.
We are looking for unique characters. Creative minds with a curiosity to push boundaries. Those who are ready to think differently in order to make the new normal.
Exceptions who are successful, will gain first-hand experience in account service, creative service, planning and production departments before hopefully taking up a permanent position in the agency.
The recruitment process is in two stages – the first is providing an answer to the question below. This stage is open until 12pm, Monday 15th October 2018.
If we like your response, you’ll be invited to participate in the final stage where you’ll be assessed in person while completing an agency style group task. You will receive the invite by Tuesday 30th October 2018 to come to either Melbourne or Sydney (based on your indicated preference) for the group task assessment on week commencing 12th November 2018.
Please note, you will need to have the right to work in Australia to participate in the program.
Managing Director, eg+
Ubaldo makes sure the ship is running smoothly at eg+. Ubaldo loves a good glass of wine (he’s from Adelaide after all). And much like a fine wine he’s aged with Clemenger for many years now.
Nicole is one of the many talented Creative Directors. Part of her job is managing young talent, helping to bring out their creative voices and styles. It’s a job that requires passion for everything beautiful and patience. Skills she uses outside of work, when making her own scarves.
Ideas are what keeps the business fresh, no matter the shape. If there's one quality every employee has, it’s the want to make every idea shine as bright as it can. There’s a reason why our motto is, The Work, The Work, The Work.
Clemenger holds itself to a high quality of work. The best way to achieve this standard is through collaboration, talent and patience. Qualities we’re looking for in each candidate.
In its third year, the Exceptions program is looking for a bunch of fresh new faces. At Clemenger we believe variety of opinion brings out the best work, something the Exceptions are known to deliver.
Clare is the Executive Assistant to James McGrath and our Creative Leaders. She thrives on the challenges of managing multiple diaries, award submissions, sourcing unique venues and props, and supporting the day-to-day logistics of the Creative department. But most importantly, she’s the mastermind behind Clemenger’s culture, lighting up every room she enters.
Hilary is a multi-award winning Senior Copywriter, working on some of the agency’s biggest clients. If that wasn’t ambitious enough she’s a full time Mum and author. Yeah, we don’t know how she does it either.
Alisa is a multitalented designer who’s skills can’t be contained into one category. Whether it be interactive, digital, typography or graphic, Alisa’s want to make everything beautiful is represented in every field. There’s a reason why we wanted her to design the Clemenger characters.
Ray is the copywriting half of his creative partnership with Carlo Mazzarella. Together the pair work in tandem trying to research human insights that help resonate a truth.
Tina helps manage the MYER account and specifically deals with their Fashion campaigns. Tina started as a freelancer with no advertising background, but after adapting to the process and harnessing her skills over the past four years, she has become a true asset. Working at the agency now for 4 years.
Besides being an amazing technologist and being able to speak fluently in two languages (not counting coding), Sylvain is also an accomplished 3D animator. He’s the guy you go to with any question.
How do I apply?
Answer the question,
What makes you a unique character?
Make a 90 second video explaining why you’re unique.
Whatever it is you believe your unique asset is, show us.
We’ve deliberately left the question quite open to allow you to show your personality and creativity, so don’t hold back.
Questions and answers
need to know
What’s account service?
These guys are responsible for the client and oversee the whole creative process from taking a brief to delivery of the finished project, working closely with all of the specialist departments in the agency and talking with the clients every day.
When would I start and what will I earn?
It’s a full time position that will run from January to December 2019. You would receive about $3,300 a month before tax.
The planning department is responsible for account strategy – from top level business strategy of a client to the more specific strategy for a given marketing campaign. They work closely with the client and account service to define the problem and develop the brief, and then with creatives to ensure their ideas are in the right space.
What do you mean by agency style group task?
We will invite a number of you along to the same location, divide you into several groups and brief you all on an advertising task, such as the creation of a campaign idea. We’ll then observe how you work as a group throughout the whole process, and how you present your final thinking at the end of the day.
These guys are responsible for taking the approved idea and turning it into a real thing, whether that’s a film, an app, an event, a poster, a website, or anything else. They work closely with the creatives to ensure their vision is brought to reality, and account service to ensure client objectives are met.
What happens at the end of the programme?
If you’ve had a good year then we’ll certainly want to keep you and will offer you a permanent position. That’s why the program exists and in previous years most graduates have been offered a job. Worst case scenario you’ll leave with a year’s amazing experience at the most successful agency in Australia.
What would you be doing?
You’ll spend the first three months rotating around the key departments in the agency. The remaining time will be spent in one of these departments, chosen based on an evaluation of your skills and performance in the rotation. You’ll be supporting the teams in the delivery of real work for clients, learning the ropes and taking on more responsibility as time progresses.
Are there any minimum criteria for application?
You don’t need to have any specific academic qualifications. In this instance we’re more interested in how you think, how you behave and the kind of person you are. We’re looking for people that will thrive in a fast paced agency environment, so enthusiasm, dedication and good communication are a must. But beyond that, it’s up to you.
Could I get a job as a creative?
Never say never, but that’s not what this programme is about.
How will you judge my question answers?
This is always going to be a bit subjective, but we want to get a feeling for who you are, how you think, how you’ve got where you are, and how you might fit in the agency.
Can I apply from abroad?
You need to have the legal right to work in Australia. If you have that, then you can apply from anywhere you like.
